We are a welcoming group of Irish set-dancing enthusiasts who meet regularly to informally teach and practice set dances from the Irish tradition. This dance form is akin to American square-dancing. We are always looking to welcome in folk curious about the tradition and take time and make space within our practice to introduce folks to the basic movements, footwork, and figures common in our repertoire of dances. This free class feeds into a larger Irish set-dancing community in Portland who meet informally to dance at local Irish sessions as well as more formally at classes and céilithe (organized dances with live music).
