Where is this Portland Balkan dance event?
Balkan band Kafana Klub's monthly Tuesday night dances are now at Al Forno Ferruzza Pizzeria, located on the corner of 28th Ave & NE Alberta. Al Forno has AMAZING pizza, cannolis, and a very kind staff. The pizza is truly authentic, and must be tried by all. Beer and wine are also available.
We will be playing in the side room to the right of the counter. Start and end times are approximate.
Kafana Klub features many different musical traditions from the Balkans and surrounding
areas with sublime vocals and spiraling, odd-metered instrumentals. Traditional Bulgarian
bitov village sounds morph into Macedonian shepherds' songs, followed by frenzied
Romanian violin & accordion breakdowns. The band's friendly dance fans will be very happy
to teach newcomers the dance steps, or just come and listen to this musical treat.
